WESTPEX 2013 Grand Opening Day Ceremony

Show Theme and Souvenirs

A special Grand Opening Ceremony for the WESTPEX 2013 Stamp Show will be held at 9:30 A.M. Friday April 26 in the Irvine Room of the Jr. Ballroom on the hotel's first floor.  The ceremony will describe the WESTPEX 2013 theme, which commemorates the 100^th anniversary of the Hetch Hetchy water project that supplies water and electricity to the San Francisco Bay Area.

Three cachet envelopes as shown here and a Cinderella souvenir sheet will be available at the show.  Every attendee to this ceremony will receive one free cachet cover at the end of the program. Bill Dwyer, the cachet designer, will be on hand to autograph covers if desired.

To access the Jr. Ballroom, one may use the Bay View walkway outside the first floor lounge area.  From the second floor, one may go down the stairs opposite and just past the registration counter.  Follow the posted signs.

The three rooms of the Jr. Ballroom area as well as the lobby will feature meetings and specialty group tables during the show, and the WESTPEX Awards Banquet on Saturday evening April 27.

Once the show opens, the cachet covers will be on sale on the second floor adjacent to the registration area.  Single cachet covers are $4 each or all three versions for $10.  The Hetch Hetchy souvenir sheets will also be available for $5 each.

The guest societies helping to celebrate our 53rd show in 2013 will be the Germany Philatelic Society, The Society for Czechoslovak Philately, International Federation of Aero-Philatelic Societies (FISA).

You will find the 53 year tradition of 300+ frames of international exhibits, a team of renowned judges, 75 dealers from around the world, meetings and seminars on every facet of philately, plus the world famous sights of San Francisco.

The first WSP Virtual Court of Honor was part of WESTPEX 2003.

The Nepal and Tibet Philatelic Study Circle provided the images for the WESTPEX 2004 Nepal Showcase.

MEPSI provided the images for the WESTPEX 2004 Mexico Showcase.

The Polonus Philatelic Society provided images for the WESTPEX 2010 Poland Showcase
